is she, by chance, putting a sealer on her traditional gels before she applies 
the gel polish? Just a thought.  
I used to apply the sealer when doing pink and whites before polishing so that 
the client could remove her polish, if she so chose to, before coming back to 
me... and they would still be shiny etc....
