Hello Fellow Techs,
I have been watching some of the threads, but have a question. If you
use the manicuresthatlast gel polish, you do the base coat followed by
2 coats of the color. Do you cure each layer inbetween each layer of
color? What do you use for the top coat or is it just as duriable and
shiney without any top coat? Does it really soak off in 5 minutes? Do
you have to buff or anything first? If you use this on enhancements
won't it also comprimise the enhancement?
Thanks for your help and time
Ruth
Hi Ruth, let me answer all your questions for you!
Yes you need to cure each layer before the next.
Yes it really soaks off in 5 minutes.
You should do a very light buff with a white bock before the base to
just remove the shine and oils.
No, over an enhancement it will not compromise the enhancement. You
will need to file it off though. Soaking could compromise acrylic,
and besides, filing it off from an over enhancement application would
be much faster than soaking.
Curing (ideally with a 4 - 9w bulb lamp, where the blubs are new and
properly cleaned regularly:
Basecoat...30 seconds is plenty.
first coat of color....if it is dark.... full two minutes
if it is a light color still two minutes
if it is a transparent color (basically our clear pink) you can do 30 seconds
Second coat
if it is a dark color and this is your final cure coat ..full two minutes
if you are applying a clear cure over the top you can do a minute and a half
if it is a opaque light color same situation as dark colors (remember
just because the pigment is LIGHT doesn't mean that there isn't a lot
of it in there to make the color opaque)
if it is a transparent color (clear pink) ...one minute
Clear coat over color
full two minutes (over opaque and transparent colors)
this will finish off the cure.
Now lets address the top coat. You can use either eco Clear or eco
Polish Sealer (or any other traditional air dry top coat - Seche, Out
The Door etc). Either should give you a good long lasting shine. I
like both honestly. Polish Sealer can be retailed for shine boosts,
while the eco Clear gel is already out and in hand. Polish sealer
takes a little less time (no 2 minutes cure times 2) if she can sit
still for about 1 full minutes she'll be fine!
It is very important you apply the base coat VERY thin, there is a
lot of information on the site in the
<http://www.manicuresthatlast.com/catalog/assorted-application-thoughts-a-14.html>Assorted
Application Thoughts article about how to know you are thin enough.
I hope that helps!
