Knowing you are the biggest advocate for Nail Techncians and that you have the ear of all the major companies and show promotors I wanted to send you an email regarding my disappointment with this years IBS Show at the Javitts Center. I attended this years show on Monday. I paid $75 for my ticket which entitled me to enter the IBS and the ISSE. The ticket cost of this show is much higher than any other show across the country. I was truly amazed at the lack of participation from the Industry giants such as Star Nail International, Creative Nail Design, OPI, Entity, EZ Flow, Nubar...just to name a few. I was also unimpressed with the lack of classes that were offered to Nail Technicians and the fact that the Nail related booths were spread across the entire showroom floor, often times right next to a very loud hair demonstration stage which made it difficult to approach the booth and hear what the booth staff was trying to tell us. I also found it very rude that "no rolling suitcases are permitted on the showroom floor", yet I was literally run over most of the day by people lugging these suitcases up and down the aisles. I have been to the IBS show many times over the course of my 11 plus years in the Industry, and I can honestly say that this will be the last time I am attending. I feel that if IBS does not care enough about Nail Technicians and our hard earned dollars to provide us with the same quality of manufacturer attendees and classes as they do Hair Dressers and Aestheticians, I will travel to Chicago, Orlando or Las Vegas for the shows that do value us and provide a quality shopping experience, educational classes, competitions and a less hectic showroom floor plan. This show was once the benchmark of beauty shows which drew people from all over the world, it's decline over the years has now made it the show to skip.
