So last night I am doing my regular work and this popup comes telling
me I have 29 virus/trojens and I need to click to pay for the full
scan and protection..
Man those screens looked good.. very official, very enticing...
but *I* know better, and I know my way around a computer's innards..
So I searched the hard drive for the "files" it says it found.. and
gee wilickers, I can't find them.. so I fire up the laptop to do some
googling and sure'enuf its a bad one..
What ticks me totally off (and Dave will lose his MIND over this) is
I have real time scanning, I have the latest and greatest
anti-every-darn thing on my desktop and it did not blink an eye.
So now I am on the laptop (which runs completely with out protection
- but thats gonna change) and I have to take my baby over to the guru
to finish getting rid of the parts I can't find of this nasty thing
BTW this one was titled "XP Home Security 2011" my research showed me
there are a few variations of this.. but the general rule is pop ups
that tell you you need to pay for something to clean your computer is
bad.. B A D
Be safe out there people... always question what you click on.. don;t
let wording of the request frighten you into doing something you will
probably regret.
