Thanks Deb for keeping us all safe.....
As you should know by now, I run all kinds of security on my PC's and
laptop.. well apparently thats not good enough.. 2nd time in 3 months
or so I got nailed with something..
So.. just as a reminder.. if you get a popup that runs a scan and
IMMEDIATELY finds an issue.. stop the scan shut off the PC and take
to an expert to get rid of the bastard lurking in the shadows..
The name of this one is: malware protection designed to protect, but
it could say anything else, and has a very "microsoft looking" shield
as the logo, the other time it had that also..
DO NOT.. I can not stress this enough.. DO NOT click to buy the "full
version to unlock all the features" you might as well post you social
security number on FB..
This particular nasty shut down all running programs, it will not
allow me to start either web browser or even CTRL-ALT-DEL to shut the
slimy thing off.. I can't delete the program, I can't start in safe
mode either to try and kill it that way.. IF the PC had a floppy
drive I MIGHT be able to use a "boot disk" but thats just not
happening.. damn I cant even remember now what I was doing, but I
know I clicked on a wiki link.. but that may have only triggered it..
the PC has been funcky for a day or so.. mis-behaving, rebooted twice
today alone before the popup came..
So.. please take care out there.. have enough sense to just shut it
off (the whole PC) before more damage is done..
Regards,
