Hi Teks,
I had a bride request a Shellac French Manicure today. She had her own
natural nails which were a decent length. I sculpted a tip on one nail that
was shorter. I have been doing quite a few Shellac French Manicures lately
and felt pretty confident that it would turn out nice. I did a base coat, a
coat of sheer pink, then carefully painted on the white making sure that the
white covered completely, while keeping the application thin, and making each
nail match the rest in shape and contour of the white. Ms Bride didn't like
the results. :-( She asked me if I would put another coat of white on, I
couldn't see how that would help. The white WAS covering correctly, I'm sure
she was thinking about how it looks when it is airbrushed instead of painted
on. I ended up putting a base coat OVER the shellac, then airbrushed white on,
and put a top coat on. I wasn't thrilled about the extra work, or the outcome.
I'm not sure it looked that much better than just the shellac.
I've tried airbrushing on a natural nail, and the putting shellac over the
airbrushing, but it doesn't last very long. Any ideas here? I like
airbrushing better also! It takes WAY less time than painting each and every
nail, and it looks WAY better too!
Wah!
