Don't feel bad. I've been doing nails 25 yrs. and it still takes me
that long to do one. 30 min. was just too tight for me....invariably
the client could be a few min. late or get there on time and then have
to go to the restroom or I'd get into the mani and she'd have a break
or 2 to patch....then guess who's running behind all day?

I talk to the hand and all my products are right by me in a very
organized way, so it's not that I'm wasting time. But when a client
books with me, I do not like to rush them or feel rushed and harried
myself. They can go to the Vietnamese salons for that. But the problem
I faced was that the rest of my services took 1 hour to
complete...pedi's, fills, full sets, backfills. So when the mani
client would cancel, the only service I could fit into that 45 minute
slot was another mani....that became a problem if I couldn't fill it.
And most times I couldn't since the bulk of my clients were pedi's and
nail enhancements.

Here's how I remedied my situation: I eliminated all classic mani's! I
went to strictly spa mani's with salt scrub, paraffin dip, etc. which
took me about 50 min. That left plenty of leeway to fix repairs or if
the client was a little late or had to use the restroom. I only lost
1-2 clients but I gained way more. And at $30 for this 1 hour service,
it's my lowest price point.

I haven't' done a classic mani in over 8 years and I haven't done any
polish changes in over 10. I book everyone every hour, on the hour, so
that way if one person cancels I can fit any service in the open time
spot. No down time and no frustrations because I couldn't do a good
mani in 30 min. I don't know, but this might work for you, too:)
