Yeah, if she's been to a discount salon to get her gel nails, most likely she has acrylic with a gel sealer on top. You'll have to ask a bunch of questions (how was it applied, like liquid and powder, or cured every layer in the UV lamp, that sort of thing). If it's MMA acrylic she's got on, you'll have to file it off, make sure you have a good dust extraction system to catch the dust from that. The stuff doesn't soak off, it just gets slimy.
If you start filing one nail and it files off really easily, then it's probably gel.
