Since I've been licensed, I've worked for myself. I'm the sole tech in a full service salon and enjoy working in that atmosphere- hair, makeup, skin care and nails. However, with the economy here in our small town it's becoming a financial struggle to pay for my own supplies, etc. The hair side of the salon is also very slow and sometimes we are only open 2 days a week. (Although I can go in and do clients whenever I want.)
A new salon is opening on April 1st in a high traffic area and they are interested in speaking with me about the position. Mon-Sat, 10-7, 60% commission and tips. I can also choose if I want to take perhaps Monday off and have an actual 2 day weekend. >> What are the cons of working in a nail salon? I've never done it. I believe >> it is an Asian owned salon and I think I'd be the only "white girl" >> there...LOL. Not that it bothers me, I have prejudice against anyone >> however, it may be uncomfortable for a while until I understand the language >> better. I also worry that I'll have to have a client in and out at >> lightening speed, whereas now I can't take as much time as I want...and my >> clients love that. I don't know what to do so any advice would be appreciated from the bottom of my heart. I've been at my current salon 6 years and it's been home. Change is hard but I have a mortgage to pay and can't keep killing myself to net $200 a week. I just worry that it'll be a factory and I'll be miserable. Help!!!! Thanks in advance!!
