Recipes of the Day

==============

All 6 of my children always wanted to take their lunch to school
instead of eating the cafeteria food. Their favorites were homemade
soup (in a thermos), a package of peanut butter crackers, fresh
vegetables like carrots or celery and a banana or some other fruit.
About once a week I would put a piece of cake instead of fruit. Here
are some of their favorite homemade soups I made for them. Often I
just made soup out of what was leftover in the refrigerator.
Donna in NM

BROCCOLI SOUP
1 (10 oz.) bag your favorite broccoli
1 can chicken broth

Cook above for 5 minutes. Add 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk. Heat
until hot. May add more bottle milk if you like. Ready in about 10
minutes. Makes 2 servings.

HAMBURGER VEGETABLE SOUP
3/4 lb. hamburger
2 (15 oz.) cans mixed vegetables
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 c. water
Salt and pepper

Brown hamburger; drain. Add remaining ingredients and cook 15-20
minutes. Makes 4-6 servings.

EASY HAMBURGER VEGETABLE SOUP
2 lbs. hamburger
2 cans tomato soup, add 2 cans of water
2 cans mixed vegetables

Brown 2 pounds of hamburger (drain grease). Add 2 cans of Campbell's
tomato soup, then add 2 cans of mixed vegetables. Let simmer 30 to 45
minutes, ready to eat.

Many more easy soup recipes were posted by Donna in today's
newsletter. Corinne from Pittsburgh sent in a lot of great ideas for
children's lunches as well.
