Shaker Brown Bread
1 cup rye flour
1 cup corn meal
1 cup graham flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3 3/4 cups sour milk
3/4 cup molasses
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup chopped raisins

Sift the dry ingredients together and mix well. Combine in a bowl the sour milk, molasses, and melted butter. Combine the two mixtures and stir thoroughly, adding the chopped raisins, lightly floured. Pour into 2 buttered molds. Fill only two-thirds full. Steam for 2 hours by putting molds in an uncovered pan with 1 inch of water in it on top of stove and then bake for 1/2 hour in moderate 350 degree F. oven. Yields 2 loaves.

Easy Lasagna
1 pound ground chuck
1 jar spaghetti sauce (32 oz)
1 pound cottage cheese
8 oz sour cream
8 lasagna noodles (do not cook)
18 oz mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1 cup water

Layer meat and 4 noodles in casserole dish Spread ½ cottage cheese-sour cream mixture over noodles Sprinkle ½ cheese over mixture. Cover with 1/2 the spaghetti sauce. Sprinkle 1/2 of the Parmesan cheese over sauce. Repeat. Pour water around. Cover and bake at 350 for 1 hour…uncover and bake 20 minutes.

Candied Sweet Potatoes
6 med. sweet potatoes, cooked and halved lengthwise or 2 (16 oz.) can whole sweet potatoes, drained
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1/4 c. butter or margarine

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Arrange sweet potatoes in cook and serve baking dish. In 1 quart saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter; heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes. Pour syrup over sweet potatoes. Bake 20 minutes or until potatoes are well glazed, basting often with syrup. To serve, spoon syrup over potatoes.
