My take would be that once configured both are similar. Nagios has a bit tougher configuration, and Zabbix is better looking. They are pretty much head to head in terms of features, and Nagios is a tad more popular. Nagios is primarily coded in C, when zabbix has some C but primarily PHP. But to your point they are both excellent, and there is no big reason to switch once you have one up, except for the sake of diversity.... -- Cheers Philippe philippe ombredanne | nexB - Open IT Asset Management 1 650 799 0949 | pombredanne at nexb.com http://www.nexb.com > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of John Kinsella > Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2004 8:07 PM > To: Philippe Ombredanne > Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Open-Source Network Management Tools > > > > On Tue, Sep 14, 2004 at 07:54:54PM -0700, Philippe Ombredanne wrote: > > Well I hope that we will be coming with (nexb) will not be > sucking, but > > it is not production grade yet. > > Will have to wait a few more months. > > > > I'm looking for open-source alternatives for network > > > management, such as Nagios or Big Brother. > > I would add to the list the excellent zabbix, just ass > popular as jjfnms > > http://www.zabbix.com/features.php > > Ah my bad, I did forget about Zabbix - one of my guys was just showing > it off to me a few weeks ago, too.
