This was discussed quite a bit of time ago here. I was the one to argue that
NUnit2's behavior is dangereous, in the sense that using relative paths like
this usually leads to code that is subtly broken, and certainly feeble. IOW,
relying on the current directory to be the directory where the exe/dlls are
stored is a terrible idea. I say this from experience: I've seen way too
many people getting bitten by this in the long run not to care about it.

However, quite a few people seem to think that's the best behavior, and that
it should be that way... well, who am I to argue. It seems I never did patch
it, so give me until tonight (can't do it from work), and I'll add the patch
in.
