In regards to versioning, I would prefer not to use an even/odd numbering 
scheme to denote stable/development releases:
1) Looking back at prior NAnt releases, the project has always used 'state' 
(alpha, beta, rc, etc) and number (1, 2, 3, etc) to indicate the status.

2) Using odd number (dev) release might scare off some users from trying who 
are worried about trying bleeding edge code; instead this might cause them to 
wait until an even (stable) release is provided. This might caught a delay in 
the feedback cycle. (Although, you could argue the same for alpha/beta 
release...) 

3) Although this scheme was used by Linux kernel team in the past, but since 
2.6, this has been dropped. I didn't do any research, but there must be an 
argument against it.
