There are plans ofcourse, but we need to finish up some stuff first ...
I understand the need to "make things right" but taking an older
version of the
code, labeling it a release candidate and getting it out there would
be useful.
I did not use nant for 4 months after my first attempt to install it
and use
it. I'm willing to bet that there are people who are looking at nant
       

and
 

playing with it and not figuring it out who just throw up their hands
and say,
"screw it".
I really mean it when I say, "the stable build is not usable", Aunt
Tilly can
NOT install the December 2003 NAnt on a box with VS 2003 and get it
to run in
less than 20 minutes.
A branch might be a bitch to maintain, but please, just publish .85
and be done
with it. I'm not sure how much work it would be to polish a version
(brutally
hack out any code less than 80% usable is probably more like it) but
I'd love
to see it done.
       

I'm starting to agree. It would probably be a good idea to push out an
"interim" build which is basically a rubber stamped nightly. I think
we're in agreement that current nightlies are much more stable than 0.84
and unfortunately most people coming to a project for the first time
will download the latest 'release' from the download page figuring that
if that doesn't work then why should a nightly be any better. Sure we
point anyone who asks on the mailing list to the nightlies download page
but there are likely many people who don't get around to checking the
mailing list and just give up.
   

I agree too. I guess we should start working on release notes once the
filterchain stuff has stabilized ...
 

I already started on the release notes. It will be quite bit of work 
though. I'd almost be inclined to post the 'interim' release minus 
release notes and then have a proper 0.85 a little further out.
