Funny you should say that; one of my colleagues (okay, THE colleague who
also takes testing seriously) handed in his resignation yesterday.
As this is a public forum, I need to be careful what I say, but let me say
that you and I ask similar questions. And my wife, too.
I also agree with your logic on quality.

One of my life goals is to generate enough income elsewhere that I won't
need to work for a salary (this also coincidentally came another step closer
yesterday). Then I can do as I want (okay, my wife and I want), and plan to
spend some of my time on open source bits, as software developing is my
hobby.
