Definitely something other than CVS. SVN seems to be a good enough SCM that a lot of people are familiar with. I doubt people will be doing large branches/merges to warrant getting into git. I wrote a little patch for nant a while ago and would probably do a few more minor minor things if the code was in something other than cvs.

That may have been a source of confusion. We've been using cvs ever since I joined the project. If we were using svn today, I don't think I would be considering git right now. And I suggested git because I have been using it lately for personal projects and I like it. Its easy for me to use on both *nix and Windows platforms.
