I've merged in your changes by hand... I hope I didn't leave anything out (but all compiles and tests run fine)... I did have to do a _ton_ of hand editing, partly because of code style issues (I'm a style freak, what can I say), and partly because of some changes you had made I wasn't fully comfortable.... Do take a look at it please, and let me know if I missed or botched anything up!
