CONGO Roundtable on Strengthening Partnerships between the UN and
Youth Organisations, 16 Nov, Geneva

The CONGO Committee of Youth NGOs (Geneva) is sponsoring a roundtable
on "Youth as effective agents for change: strengthening partnerships
between the United Nations and youth organisations" on Tuesday 16
November 2004, from 15:00  � 17:30 hrs, at the Palais des Nations,
Geneva. This event will bring together high-level representatives of
the United Nations, international and regional youth organisations and
young people themselves to discuss how to strengthen our partnerships
in order to address the global youth priorities identified in the
World Programme of Action for Youth and the Millennium Development

Program on UN Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women, 18 Nov,
New York

The NGO Committee on the Status of Women, NYand the NGO Committee on
UNIFEM will be holding a meeting on 18 November on the UN
International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The
program will include the following speakers: Ms. Marijke
Velboer-Salcedo, Chief, Latin America and Caribbean Section, UNIFEM;
Ms. Promita Sengupta, Program Specialist, Violence Against Women and
UNIFEM and Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women and Ms. Joan
Libby-Hawk, Public Affairs Specialist UNIFEM. 1:15� 2:45 pm at the
Church Center of the UN, 12th floor, (corner of 44th Street and First
Avenue).

Lecture on the Impact of the HIV/AIDS on the Children of the World, 19
Nov, New York

On Friday, 19 November there will be a lecture by Dr. James Oleske
commemorating the fifteenth anniversary of the adoption of the UN
Convention on the Rights of the Child.  Dr. Oleske will be discussing
his experiences in pediatric HIV/AIDS, including the effect of
HIV/AIDS on children. From 9.30 to 11.00am, U.N. Church Center, 777
U.N. Plaza (44th Street and 1st Ave), 10th Floor. Sponsored by:  NGO
Committee on Children's Rights, NGO Committee on Children's Rights,
Task Force on HIV/AIDS; SCOW; American Psychological Association;
Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues; NGO Committee on
Mental Health; The International Council of Psychologists; NGO
Committee on HIV/AIDS.

Participate in We the People's Survey 2005

"We the Peoples" is an annual survey which analyses and reports on
civil society activities, achievements and views regarding the
Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). To
inform and reinforce civil society efforts in 2005, an extensive We
the Peoples report will be published. This report will be
forward-looking, and include assessments that civil society
organizations are making about progress on the MDGs,  highlighting
recommendations for reform and  action.  In 2005, this report will be
presented to the UN Secretary General, and will be distributed widely
in four languages. 

You can participate in the survey by going to 
http://www.nsi-ins.ca/mdgsurvey/ . By participating in this survey,
you will add your voice to civil society opinion on the MDGs.  The
deadline for this survey is 26 November 2004. The survey is being
conducted by The North-South Institute , in collaboration with the
World Federation of United Nations Associations.
