From: "ngo_ip_undecade" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: IITC: Reunion Indigena en la CDH, Indigenous meeting at the CHR Reunion Indigena en la CDH, Indigenous meeting at the CHR [Espanol sigue al ingles] As has been the practice for the past several years, the IITC is arranging for a briefing for indigenous representatives at the Commission on Human Rights. These briefings include presentations by States on Indigeous resolutions, normally on the Rapporteur (Mexico and Guatemala), the WGIP (last year it was Cuba) and the WG on the draft declaration (Canada apparently is doing it again this year). In addition, the agenda so far includes the OHCHR (Julian Burger) on the mining workshop and other matters. Last year Mr. Stavenhagen attended the briefing but had his own meeting with Indigenous representatives. He has again been invited, but will probably have his own meeting again this year, probably the afternoon of the 11th. In the past, most indigenous representatives arrive the day before agenda item 15, indigenous issues, is heard. This year it will be addressed on Monday, April 11, 2005. We are arranging a room and translation at the World Council of Churches for Sunday, April 10, beginning at about 2 PM for this briefing. There may be other opportunities to meet during the week of April 4, but this may be the best time for all. Sugestions for the meeting are welcome.
