Dear Friends:

With donors and volunteers we pulled together a group and went to the market
and bought mosquito nets for a very impoverished village, one relocated to a
land of "nothing" a year ago at the hands of the US Drug War. Americans have
not a clue who their government or the likes of UNDP Maria Costa are killing.

73 nets for 73 families, and very happy they were, everyone having a good
time in the village while the rice harvest is wrapped up.

In the last year since the relocation into oblivion ten babies and two adults
in this village died of malaria. The village is within easy access to the
NGO's, but they can't explain to us why on THEIR bloated budgets they can not
provide nets or other easily recognizeable aid, plenty of trucks and land
rovers running around however.

So delivering the mosquito nets is a very good success, now we just need to
repeat it, forgiving me for being optimistic, but in every village!

  Don't hesitate to jump in.

In one village they had just killed a very large boar that was eating in the
rice field, so all the kids were happy about meat. Forced relocations of
villages is putting a huge toll on birds, as many of the villages had to get
rid of their water buffalo, to make someone happy in America, not sure who
would know or who would care apart from pharmaceuticals.

We are getting some new search engines on the site, and also, there are links
to the Auca situation in Ecuador. The Wycliffe 5 who were killed there, show up
in a very different light when one learns of the western exploitation of
resources in the world. Now the story has been commercialized, for the
religious, into a media consumer frenzy "End of the Spear" check it out on the
website http://www.akha.org

Lot of pics done for the 3rd Akha Journal which keeps getting bigger.

Time for layout and printing, hope there is interst in this as lots of people
enjoy the Journal later when it is done, but we need for people to enjoy it now
when it still takes help and funds to get finished.

I am guessing between 400-600 pages, some where in there.

Got to talk to a silver smith yesterday that works on Akha ornaments, very
nice what they make for the head dresses.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Matthew McDaniel
