Gathering information!!!   This gathering is just for friends to get together. Many of these people will be friends from online having never met face to face.Bringing your own Tent and or Tipi is a very good idea. It is either that or sleep in the rain or whatever other weather Mother Nature decides to give us!! The nearest motel to the gathering site is about 40 miles away. A cooking area will be set up, that will make it easier for meals to be planned for all people at the same time.   I think August 10 - 12 would be good dates. Waking Dove and Lightowl would be able to come that weekend, I believe, and then go from the gathering to her reunion.   Reservations are not required but would come in handy so I can let the campground know how many will be coming. Cost wise, I think $20.00 per day per person should be sufficient. That would cover camping fees and food. Any amounts left over after the gathering will be donated to help the People. This gathering, in the spirit of all Native gatherings, will be narcotics and alcohol free. Please keep that in mind.   There will be representatives from 2 mailing lists at this gathering. The Native_American and the AmericanIndian mailing lists.   Activities will come to mind as they come to mind, and as always will run on Indian Time... I'm sure that we can get some people to help with teaching beading and other such crafts. Someone might even bring along a guitar for some campfire singing. Story Tellers are always welcome!!! I'm not sure of the dates for the Mescalaro Pow Pow but the gathering might coincide with it. Carlsbad Caverns and the Hila Cliff Dwellings are not that far away, and both would be great locations for a day trip during the gathering.   For those that may wish to fly in, Albuquerque and El Paso are the 2 airports. Both are about 2 hours from the campground. Anyone that flies in to El Paso can follow me to the campgrounds.   As we get closer to the gathering date I will give detailed driving directions.
