| Indigenous to play Kennedy Center
By Journal staff WASHINGTON, D.C. � South Dakota rock band Indigenous will perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, July 25. The band was nominated by Sen. Tom Daschle to represent the state for South Dakota State Day. Indigenous, a band comprised of a family of American Indian musicians from Marty, has played with B.B. King and performed more than 1,000 shows in its career. The band has appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "CBS Saturday Morning" and CNN. Indigenous garnered Best Group in the 1999 Native American Music Awards. Performers from throughout the nation are featured during state days at the Kennedy Center. Congressional members nominate the artists.
