NCIDC-Del Norte Indian Education Center (IEC)
Program Coordinator

Crescent City, CA:  The IEC Program Coordinator advocates for the
educational needs of American Indian students and families in Del Norte
County.  Position requires AA degree and 2 years of experience and clear
driving record.  Job descriptions can be obtained at NCIDC 1607 Fifth
Street in Crescent City or 241 F Street Eureka or by calling (707) 464-3512
or (707) 445-8451.  Application deadline is Friday August 31, 2001.

MAJOR DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

 o Organizes and coordinates project training component.

 o Provides supervision for all staff, volunteers, and program
participants.

 o Maintains, evaluates, and interprets individual participant records as
well as monitors other vital statistics and data effecting the needs of the
student.

 o Coordinates diagnostic services for special needs coordinates with
community programs for Adult Education Services.

 o Assist with budget monitoring and preparation.

 o Seeks in kind donation of services and assistance for the academic and
vocational needs of students.

 o Works with program staff to ensure compliance with program regulations,
standards and timelines.

 o Obtains specialized training for all staff.

o Acts as liaison to community agencies providing academic, vocational and
other special services to the IEC participants.

o Develops the needed systems and procedures to assure program
coordination.

o Implements effective referral service.

 o Develop career opportunities by providing referrals to academic
counseling, career interest surveys, resume writing assistance, job
placement services, and other services.

 o Use computers to stimulate academic growth by having students explore
creative and interactive programs for GED and other types of training.

 o Acts as liaison to Education System and larger American Indian
community.

 o Provides reports and documentation pertinent to the ongoing development
of the program.

 o Develops a plan for utilizing community resources.  Works closely with
other private and public agencies to meet the special needs of IEC students
and families.

 o Seek out innovative approaches by coordinating with other education
programs.


Preference will be given to qualified American Indian applicants in
accordance with P.L. 93-638.
