Dear Friends,
With the events of the
past week, I just wanted each of you to know that I
thank GOD that I was
born a UNITED STATES CITIZEN! I thank this country for
allowing me to earn
my way, to work hard and have some fun along the way.
Each of you are special
to me in your own way!
Friday I sent an E-Mail
to the US Army, telling them that I had done it once
before and I'd do it
again if they needed me. Now I'm sure some young person
who survived the Pentagon
attack got quite a chuckle reading an E-Mail from
an old fart like me
but you see "my generation" was engaged in an unpopular
war, which we eventually
had to negiotate our way out of. It has always
bothered me that "my
generation" was forced to loose a conflict for fear of
bringing other nations
into a wider conflict.
Today, we are engaged
in another war, a war with as faceless an enemy as
"we" fought in the jungles
of South East Asia. Sure we had a country to
blame, but the "enemy"
used the same tacts of fear, senseless brutality and
hiding to wage war.
It seems to me that those who choose to wage war now are
more cowardly than those
our fathers delt with fitfy and sixty years ago.
Back then, you took
your best shot, said I did it the fight was on. That's
the way I was raised,
I may be older now and supposedly wiser, but inside
I'm still that 23 year
old Army Specialist, who is still willing to put it
all on the line to stop
those who do not value human life.
