Greetings Friends and Relatives,
COUNCILFIRE (http://www.councilfire.com) is getting ready to publish
its first cookbook called "Around the Councilfire: Turtle Island's
Traditional and Contemporary Recipes." The recipes will encompass all
of the geographic regions of Turtle Island, not just the United
States.
There is still time to contribute to this massive collection if you'd
like to submit a food or herbal recipe, a harvest time or food story
(i.e. "The Origin of Corn"), or other information. Please be sure to
include your name, address, telephone number, tribal affiliation if
any, for either yourself or the recipe, and your email, if possible.
Only your name and tribal affiliation will appear in the book, unless
you specifically request other information be included, such as your
web site URL. Your personal information will not be given or sold to
anyone -- it is only requested in case we have a question about the
actual submission you are providing.
We are also including a special section of American Indian
information resources, which will include many inter-tribal
non-profit organizations. There is no charge for including URLs to
your websites if you are non-profit. If you are commercial or
for-profit you may place a full-page ad for a small fee. If you would
like your group, organization or agency to be included in this book,
please email or write me by November 1, 2001.
This cookbook will include beverages, herbal teas, dozens of fry
bread recipes, pow wow foods, foods and recipes recommended for
diabetics, breads, cakes and cookies, soups and stews, fruits,
vegetables, as well as meat, game and fish. We are also including a
section on herbal and aromatherapy recipes for health and well-being.
Recipes will be cross-indexed when possible by Tribe and/or Nation.
