WEB ALERT A federal judge today ordered Interior Secretary Gale Norton and Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb to stand trial for contempt for their violations of court orders involving the Individual Indian Monies (IIM) trust and for committing a fraud on the court. In an order issued in Washington, D.C., U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth cited Norton and McCaleb for committing a fraud on the court by concealing their failure to conduct an historical accounting of the IIM trust, as ordered by the court in 1999. He also cited Norton and McCaleb for failing to inform the judge that the TAAMS computer system was not working, and for filing false and misleading quarterly reports to the court about the status of TAAMS and data clean-up.
