FBI Warns Of Terrorist Attacks In Next Few Days'Certain Information' Leads FBI To Emergency AnnouncementPosted: 4:16 p.m. EDT October 11, 2001
Updated: 4:54 p.m. EDT October 11, 2001 WASHINGTON -- There's a warning from the FBI that more terrorism could be in the works.
Officials say they haven't heard what targets might be struck. They've asked local police to be on the highest alert. And, they want Americans to look out for suspicious activity. It's the second FBI request this week that asks law enforcement to move to its highest state of alert. And it's the first one to suggest that attacks might occur within several days. In a statement posted on the FBI Web site, it says: "Certain information, while not specific as to target, gives the government reason to believe that there may be additional terrorist attacks within the United States and against U.S. interests overseas over the next several days. The FBI has again alerted all local law enforcement to be on the highest alert and we call on all people to immediately notify the FBI and local law enforcement of any unusual or suspicious activity."
