Hi, My Name is Lisa. I am 34yrs old and am as about as "Heinz 57" as it gets. But, somewhere in it all is my Cherokee blood from my great grandmother. I have been raised white and have no idea about my heritage :( My family didn't seem to think it was something that would be of any use to me in my life.
Though for some strange reason every year during the summer my Grands would take me to Cherokee, NC. Not a year went by that they didn't take me. I have no clue why, but every time we went I never wanted to leave. I guess there is just something about the place that called to me. I was forever getting in trouble for wandering off and going to see the "real" Cherokee peoples. Not the ones standing around the tourist sites. My Grands only admonishment was "You can't just go off with people you don't know". But, for some reason I always felt safe. Maybe these people could tell that my heart was genuine. Egads!
