Pablo, 51, Chairman of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Indian Reservation in western Montana, died unexpectedly at his home in Niarada on the evening of Aug. 5. The preliminary cause of death is given as "medical complications." An official notice of his passing was made on the morning of Aug. 6. It reads: "Chairman Pablo was a greatly respected tribal leader. His gentle manner, brilliant intellect and common sense were qualities he possessed as he served his people, his nation and Indian people throughout the United States. "Mickey was loved by his family, friends and all of those who were fortunate enough to work with him. He will be greatly missed." Arrangements for burial are pending and will be made public once they are finalized.
