TALLGRASS PRAIRIE PLAN FALLS SHORT:

A 2/11 press release from the Kansas Audubon Council criticizes a National
Park Service draft management plan for the Tallgrass Prairie National
Preserve. According to the release, the plan designates only 10% of the
preserve to reintroduction of bison, with no mention of reintroducing
native pronghorn antelope or elk. A majority of the land would be open to
cattle grazing. The release states, "It is a Tallgrass Prairie National
Preserve, not a federal grazing allotment."

You can see more info about this National Preserve at:

online presentation about the Management Plan, and has a form for you to

Public comments are being accepted until March 5.
