The Landmine Ban Treaty enters-into-force on March 1st. This will be
greeted by bell-ringing and other joyful sounds of celebration around the
world.

Like the World Court Project, this is an experience in world democracy which
in itself is something to celebrate. However, celebration is limited with
large numbers of landmines still in the ground, and the most militaristic
states still clinging to inhuman weapons and the dirty business of warfare.
Evens so, one appreciates all good efforts in demining and setting things
right.

This can only be a milestone still with a long way to go.

Current details about March 1st bell-ringing in Canada and world-wide can be
found at http://www.pgs.ca/pages/ldmn0.html where the Woodstock program for
Sunday will be made available.
