Subject: Fw: Great Council Fire
Chief Longhair Taylor, of the Mowa Band of Choctaw has announced
his intentions to conduct an "initial survey" to gauge response to
tentative plans of organizing a "Great Council Fire" gathering at the
Alabama State Capitol on July 4th.
Those who might be interested in attending such a gathering are
encouraged to respond to the survey to show your support. Results
will be considered in determining whether to begin definite plans to
organize such an event.
Hopes are of gathering people from all Nations in the Southeast, and
elsewhere, who may be interested in participating in a peaceful
gathering of, not so much a "show of force," but a "proof of existence
and determination."
With education, many people are becoming aware of the historical
wrongs done to the many Nations of this land. But because so much
of America has the misconception that Indian people are of insufficient
numbers, Indian issues remain insignificant to the dominant society. A
Great Council Fire is in order to show our "proof of existence and
determination."
Chief Longhair Taylor encourages those interested in the state of
Indian affairs today, whether affiliated, or non-affiliated, to respond so
that organizers may begin planning (Definite plans will hinge on
the results of survey response).
Individuals and groups who would be interested in attending such event,
and those who can help arrange for Speakers to attend may respond
to...
