Activists groups from Connecticut and New York including the Coalition Against Millstone, STAR, CRC, CAN and a long list of others are planning the event in conjunction with a land march on Millstone. "We are urging all boaters to be part of this historic demonstration to call attention to the massive amounts of contaminants they put into Long Island Sound, and the billions of fish they kill each year", said Bill Smith, Executive Director of Fish Unlimited. "We are going to send a clear message to Northeast Utilities that this must stop, and that in addition to the masses of people who oppose Millstone, boaters voices will now be heard." Fish Unlimited is the conservation group that first uncovered the documented fish kills at Millstone. Kills that amount to billions of juvenile fish on an annual basis, and which may play a role in the collapse of the winter flounder and blackfish fisheries in the Connecticut/Long Island regions.
