Disagreement arose over a meeting the previous day between Ktunaxa negotiators and the Forests Ministry on development plans in the Wigwam River valley east of Cranbrook. Ktunaxa chief treaty negotiator Kathryn Teneese said no real consultation took place at the meeting. Teneese said the only thing that seemed to be expected of the Ktunaxa was a yes or no to the Forest Ministry plans for the Wigwam.
