To national and international civil society:

Brothers and sisters:

As you know, the EZLN is currently carrying out a peace initiative at the
national and international level, whose objective is to demand the
recognition of the rights of the Indian peoples and for an end to the war
of extermination.

As part of this initiative, 5000 EZLN support base delegates (2500 men and
2500 women) will be leaving the mountains of the Mexican southeast and will
be visiting the most remote corners of the national territory. In all the
states of the Mexican Republic there are already men, women, children and
old ones who are awaiting the visits of the zapatistas and to join in the
call for peace and justice which they are bringing with them.

In order to reach those persons and to dialogue with them, the zapatista
delegates will have to cover many kilometers, sometimes by car, sometimes
on foot, sometimes by mule, sometimes by bicycle, sometimes by plane,
sometimes by boat. It is not easy to mobilize these 5000 zapatista
indigenous, nor to secure the money needed for their transportation. That
is why we are asking you for your finacial support of us and of all of
those who will be receiving the delegates, in order to make it possible for
the greatest number of persons to have their voices and their feelings
heard in Mexico.

The money that you donate to this mobilization will be used - do not doubt
it - to achieve a peace with justice and dignity. Isn't that worth it? The
bank account number is:

Bancomer, Account #5001060-5, Branch 437
San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico,
In the name of Rosario Ibarra de Piedra.

Come on! Don't be shy!

Psst, psst! Hey! Yes, you, the one who's working in a brigade for the
International Consulta! It's not important that you're working out there,
in that other country that isn't Mexico, but, when you look over here, it's
as if it were. Nor does it matter whether or not you're a Mexican, whether
you're fat, skinny or "svelte," whether you're a heterosexual, homosexual
or bisexual, whether you're tall, short or "average," whether you're black,
white, yellow, brown, red, blue or orange. Good, to make it short, nothing
matters, only whether or not you want to help peace. Yes, yes, then help
us.

Vale. Salud and yes, imagine if it had occurred to us to go to all parts
of the world! How much does it cost to go to the North Pole or to
Patagonia? Good, then we need less than that.

>From the mountains of the Mexican southeast.

Subcomandante insurgente Marcos.
