This is a correction to the IEN statement issued March 11 regarding the
deaths in Colombia:
The IEN reported that Occidental Petroleum had announced March 1, 1999 a
suspension of operations in the U'wa territory until the issues are
resolved. Unfortunately we have since received information that Oxy in
fact issued no such statement.
