The Superintendent of the Ronan S.D., Donn Livoni (a non-Indian), is going
to recommend to the School Board on April 12th. that Dr. Ben F. Irvin be denied
another contract for the upcoming year. He is doing this despite the fact that
the district's "organizational chart" clearly shows that the evualuation and
supervision of Dr. Irvin is the sole responsibility of the Indian Education
Committee (IEC).
The Superintendent has been at war with the IEC for almost two years. The
all White Board and Supt. Livoni oppossed the IEC's "Indian Education Policy"
proposal. On two occassions Donn Livoni attempted to either take control of
Title IX funds or kill the program. He has also refused in recent months to
acknowledge the reality of the IEC.
The Indian community is very angry over his past and current anti-Indian
people and education actions. The Indian community needs the support of all
people that wish to help. The Ronan/Pablo school district has the 4th. largest
Indian student enrollment in the state (900 K-12 Indian students).
    Stay tuned for further updates.
