Subject: Re: Hispanic Magazine Bravo
This is indeed good news for our people in the southwest whether they speak
Spanish, Dine, Yaqui, Kikapu, etc. The movement across the USA is to make
"english only" counties and states in order to dismantle bilingual education
programs that seek to mainstream students whose English skills need
improvement. The "english only" campaign seeks also to dismantle programs
that
assist people who speak a language other than english and hence deny them
rights to vote, legal court proceedings, etc. It is nice to see the Supreme
Court make a human rights decision.

Bravo to the U.S. Supreme Court which upheld a ruling by the Arizona Supreme
Court striking down a 1988 English-only state constitutional amendment. The
Arizona measure had made English the official "language of the ballot, the
public schools, and all government functions and actions."
