(1) Native America Calling Update
*********************************

TUE - 7/13: Indian in the Spotlight (Russell Means):
Russell Means is definitely one of Indian Country's more controversial
figures. Get a chance to talk with and listen to the words of this headline
maker as he joins our electronic talking circle - LIVE July 13 from 1-2pm ET!

WED - 7/14: Marriage in the Classrooms:
Schools in over 40 states are experimenting with marriage curriculum. That's
right, college and high school students are participating in mock marriages,
which last the school year to learn what it means to be married. Educators
hope these marital plays will help reduced the country's rising divorce
rate. Can this kind of curriculum work in Native America? Invited Guests
include Diane Sollee of the Coalition for Marriage, Family and Couples
Education.

THU - 7/15: TBA

FRI - 7/16: Drugging our Children
Unfortunately, some of our children have behavioral problems that often
times need to be controlled with drugs. Some children have a hard time
paying attention in school and others are too hyper and impulsive. But, are
we too quick to diagnose drugs, such as Ritalin, Dexedrine, and Cylert, in
order to control their behavior? Are there other more traditional methods?
Join host, Sharon McConnell, and her guests, on the next "Wellness Edition"
of Native America Calling as they discuss whether or not these drugs are
always necessary and if perhaps they are over prescribed.

More modern music from Native America on Earthsongs: This week tracks from
Bill Miller, Burning Sky, Buffy St. Marie, Jimi Hendrix, Robbie Bee, and
Casper. And we'll visit with feature artist John Trudell.

John Trudell is a modern legend -- known for his high-profile political
activism in the 60's and 70's -- and in recent years for his moving blend of
spoken-word and rock. In this interview Trudell talks about his music and
collaborations with Jessie Ed Davis and Jackson Brown -- and we feature
tracks from his brand new CD "Blue Indians."
