Domingo Cantu has been on Texas death row 11 years trying to prove his innocence. Now the trial judge, Dallas District Judge John Nelms, is allowing a DNA test to be done. This follows a September 27 report by the National Commission on the Future of DNA Evidence. The commission, organized last year by US Attorney General Janet Reno to help identify uses of DNA technology, encourages prosecutors and judges to consider reopening cases in which DNA tests could prove a person's innocence. Cantu's DNA test results will be ready October 21, seven days before Texas plans to kill him. STOP THE EXECUTIONS NOW! Cantu, a White Mountain Apache, is set to be executed on October 28 at 6 PM in Huntsville. He has steadfastly maintained his innocence since being charged with capital murder in 1988. Texas has already executed 190 people since the death penalty was reinstated in 1982. And Governor George Bush has presided over 100 executions, more than any governor in the US. Included in these 190 state killings are innocent people, mentally retarded people, juveniles, non-citizens who were not given their rights required by the Geneva convention, mentally ill people, and those whose attorneys did not adequately represent them. DOMINGO'S MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE "I hate to think that the worst will come to me. And if it does I want you to know that I will fight these murderers every step of the way. There is no doubt in my mind that they will torture me before they murder me, because I am not going to systematically lay down for these people. I can't and I won't participate in their cruelty. I don't believe in their system. They have no right!! Every time I think of October the 28th, all I can think of is Survival; Fight; Resist!!!!! I am not guilty therefore I will fight until I can't fight anymore. I want the whole world to know that I am innocent and these people tortured me before they murdered me." YOU CAN HELP STOP BUSH'S KILLING MACHINE Call, fax, or write George Bush to demand that Domingo's execution be stayed, that he be granted a new trial or released. P. O.
