These sorts of things are hard to debug. If its repeatable. I'd add
printf()s to gnome-vfs-xfer.c and try to figure out where it breaks.

Another interesting thing to do is to try to figure out if a specific
file causes it. E.G. if you copy first half the files, and then the
rest, does it work?
