You're right but I mean, based on my observation, that I think it's not so strictly necessary to overload Nautilus code with tabbed browsing when I think that it's a problem of the windows manager (metacity & co.). I agree with you that Firefox tab browsing and gedit one help you to better organize the workplace. Pcmanfm and or a gconf nautilus option could be a solution until modern windows manager wil manage it across application so you can tab everything from the ground up grouping toghether generic object.
