Hi, I made a patch for bug #501268 [1], which requests that if there's an existing thumbnail for a file, that should be loaded regardless of the current size limit and the size of the original file. This makes sense to me, as if we already have a thumbnail (because we made it in another way outside Nautilus or we set a higher limit in the past and then lowered it), showing it won't be much more expensive than showing the stock icon. While I was at it I also fixed a TODO in the thumbnail code.
