Unusual, that is true. But sizes matching 128x128 <= size <= 256x256 are  
more likely
the smaller it gets, and that is where 256x256 thumbnails boost quality.
I like the approach Nyall suggests. Which in turn does not mean that I am  
capable of implementing
it :)
