Seriously, I kind of like it. I guess

This reminds me of the SNMP protocol
and MIB thing. Wouldn't that be a
way to go? You know what I mean?



SNMP config would be great.  As would self-tuning sub systems. I think
we could do a lot better at making things "just work" without all the
knob tuning.

SNMP would also be great for getting runtime stats and so on.

Would suck to force that into the core though...
