Hello all,
just got here as I was trying to use Navit for the first time.
Ultimately I would like to add another DBus Signal to the source code so
that when the user selects a Destination a Signal is sent to anybody
that wants to listen to that Signal. I want that signal as I'm working
on an EU Research project that monitors user actions and makes some sort
of sense of it all. That sense is somebody else's problem but I have to
have a mechanism of latching onto the users actions. DBus is just the job.

Anyhow before I start all that I have to start using Navit. I've tried
to install it on my OpenMoko which installs perfect but when I run it
the App pops the GUI as you'd expect but as soon as I touch the screen
the App dies. All I get on the starting terminal is:

$ navit
binding_dbus:plugin_init:enter 1
vehicle_gpsd:vehicle_gpsd_try_open:Trying to connect to localhost:default
vehicle_gpsd:vehicle_gpsd_try_open:Connected to gpsd fd=5 evwatch=0xa9b08
navit:main_real:Using '/home/root/.navit/navit.xml'
sh: gdb: not found

Now on the Navit installation instructions on the OpenMoko wiki it adds
the Navit Projects Repo to install from, which I did, but when I do an
opkg install it pulls the app from:

http://build.shr-project.org/shr-unstable/ipk//armv4t/navit_0.1.0+svnr2934-r5.4.4_armv4t.ipk

Which on IRC people say should be fine but nobody seems to have any idea
what's going wrong. "gdb: not found" ain't telling me too much.

I'm also trying to execute navit on a few Ubuntu 9.10 machines which
have gpsd installed and that seems to be a problem as well. I thought I
had this working on one machine in so far as it popped the demo map of
Munchen in the past but now I can't even get that. I'll try a remove and
rebuild again to see if that solves my problems.

If anybody has any ideas about why the OpenMoko, which should work,
isn't working or can offer advice on how to locate the source of the
problem I'd be very very grateful.
