[image: I`m the only Indian to have spent time with MJ at Neverland: Dilip Mehta]While other Indian celebrities and non-entities have been tom-tomming their nebulous contact -level with Michael Jackson, with even a cursory handshake with the pop eye-con being treated like a tryst with divinity, the one Indian who actually spent a huge amount of quality time at MJ’s mythic hideout Neverland has kept quiet about his close association with the mythic man. Dilip Mehta who has just completed his first feature film was a freelance photographer attached to many reputed magazines. During an assignment in 1991 to shoot MJ, Dilip spent 5 nights with MJ at Neverland photographing chatting and bonding like two brothers over meals and drinks. Not only did they discuss MJ’s life and music icon and the photographer even waltzed together. Apparently MJ opened up his heart to Dilip over the 5 nights at Neverland. The photographer is unwilling to divulge details of their conversations firstly because of the confidentiality clause and also because all matters pertaining to Neverland are now under legal dispute. All Dilip will say is, “We were introduced by MJ’s spiritual guru Deepak Chopra. I think I was the only Indian photographer to have spent time with MJ at Neverland. For me it was a privilege to have photographed him candidly. I think MJ was a divine and brilliant artiste. He gave me unprecedented access.
