The Love of God Jer 31:3
KJV
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me,
saying,
Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting
love:
therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn
thee.
---------------
Agape LOVE is
the unselfish, loyal, and benevolent
concern for the well-being and highest good of another.
1 Cor 13:4-7 KJV
Charity [agape love] suffereth long, and is
kind;
charity envieth not; charity
vaunteth [boasts] not itself, is not puffed up,
{5} Doth not behave itself unseemly[inelegantly],
seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no
evil;
{6} Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the
truth;
{7} Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all
things, endureth all things.
--------------------------
The
love of God is most dramatically demonstrated in the sacrifice of Jesus
Christ for the salvation of siners. John 3:16-17 KJV
For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever
believeth in him
should not
perish, but have everlasting life.
{17} For God
sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but
that the world through him might be saved.
---------------------------
God is Love. This is at once the most universally known
and yet misunderstood attribute of all. People tend to focus on
Gods love but ignore all the rest of His attributes,
particularly His Justice and Holiness. But God's love cannot be separated or
isolated from his holiness and hatred for
sin.
Having said all this, however, it must be recognized that of all his attributes, Gods love is probably more quickly seized upon by seeking sinners than any other perfection. The smallest child can sing with great understanding: "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so!" ---------------------------------- More verses about Love for your meditation: 1Jo 4:7-10
KJV
Beloved, let us love
one another: for love is of God;
and every one
that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
(8) He that
loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
(9) In this was
manifested the love of God toward us,
because that God sent
his only begotten Son into the world,
that we might live
through him.
(10) Herein is
love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,
and sent his Son
to be the
propitiation for our sins.
1Jo 4:11-14
KJV
Beloved, if God so
loved us, we ought also to love one another.
(12) No man hath
seen God at any time.
If we love one another,
God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
(13) Hereby know
we that we dwell in him, and he in us,
because he hath given
us of his Spirit.
(14) And we
have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the
world.
1Jo 4:16
KJV
And we have known and believed the love
that God hath to us.
God is love;
and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God,
and God in him.
1Jo 3:1-3
KJV
Behold, what
manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should
be called the sons of God:
therefore the
world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
(2)
Beloved, now are we the sons of God,
and it doth not
yet appear what we shall be:
but we
know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him;
for we shall see
him as he is.
(3) And
every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself,
even as he is
pure.
1Jo 3:16-18
KJV
Hereby perceive we the love of God,
because he laid down his life for us:
and we ought to lay down our lives for
the brethren.
(17)
But whoso hath this world's good,
and
seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of
compassion from him,
how
dwelleth the love of God in him?
(18) My
little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue;
but in
deed and in truth.
Psa 36:7-10
KJV
How excellent
is thy lovingkindness, O God!
therefore the children of men
put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
(8) They shall be abundantly
satisfied with the fatness of thy house;
and thou shalt make them drink
of the river of thy pleasures.
(9) For with thee
is the fountain of life:
in thy light shall we see
light.
(10) O continue thy
lovingkindness unto them that know thee;
and thy righteousness to the
upright in heart.
1Co 2:9
KJV
But as it is
written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have
entered into the heart of man,
the things which
God hath prepared for them that love
him.
Rom 5:5-8
KJV
And hope maketh not ashamed;
because the love of God is shed
abroad in our hearts
by the Holy Ghost which is given unto
us.
(6) For when we were yet
without strength,
in due time Christ died for the
ungodly.
(7) For scarcely for a
righteous man will one die:
yet peradventure for a good man
some would even dare to die.
(8)
But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Joh 15:7-14
KJV
Jesus
says:
If ye abide in me, and my words abide
in you,
ye shall ask what ye will, and
it shall be done unto you.
(8) Herein is my Father
glorified, that ye bear much fruit;
so shall ye be my
disciples.
(9) As the Father hath loved
me, so have I loved you:
continue ye in my love.
(10) If ye keep my commandments, ye
shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father's
commandments, and abide in his love.
(11) These things have I spoken
unto you,
that my joy might remain in
you, and that your joy might be full.
(12) This is my commandment, That ye
love one another, as I have loved you.
(13) Greater love hath no man than
this,
that a man lay down his life
for his friends.
(14)
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command
you.
John 3:35:
KJV
The Father loveth the Son, and hath
given all things into his hand.
John
10:17: KJV
Therefore doth my Father love me,
because I lay down my life, that I
might take it again.
John
15:9:KJV
As the Father
hath loved me, so have I loved you:
continue ye in my
love.
John 17:19-26
KJV
And for their sakes I sanctify
myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
{20} Neither pray I for these alone,
but for them also which shall believe
on me through their word;
{21} That they all may be one; as
thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee,
that they also may be one in us: that
the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
{22} And the glory which thou gavest
me I have given them;
that they may be one, even as we are
one:
{23} I in them, and thou in me, that
they may be made perfect in one;
and that the world may know that thou
hast sent me,
and hast loved them, as thou
hast loved me.
{24} Father, I will that they
also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am;
that they may behold my glory, which
thou hast given me:
for thou lovedst me before the
foundation of the world.
{25} O righteous Father, the world
hath not known thee:
but I have known thee, and these have
known that thou hast sent me.
{26} And I have declared unto
them thy name, and will declare it:
that the love wherewith thou hast
loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Galatians 2:20:
KJV
I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in
me:
and the life which I now live in the
flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me, and gave himself
for me.
