The Power of the Word of
God
2 Pet 1:20-21
(KJV)
Knowing this first, that no
prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
{21} For the prophecy came
not in old time by the will of man:
but holy men of God spake as
they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Heb 4:12-13
(KJV)
For the word of God is quick, and
powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing
asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
{13} Neither is there any creature
that is not manifest in his sight:
but all things are naked and
opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
The Scriptures, both Old
Testament and New Testament, are the inspired Word of God, a supernatural
revelation from God to mankind, verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit through
human instrumentality, without error in the original writings in all that they
affirm. The Scriptures are the final authority for faith and practice for
the Christian life Psa 119:125-130
(KJV)
I am thy
servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy
testimonies.
(126) It is time for
thee, LORD, to work:
for they have made void thy
law.
(127) Therefore I love thy
commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
(128) Therefore I esteem all
thy precepts concerning all things to be right;
and I hate every false way.
(129) PE. Thy testimonies
are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
(130) The entrance of thy words giveth
light;
it
giveth understanding unto the simple.
Isa 55:8-11
(KJV)
For my thoughts
are not your thoughts,
neither are
your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
(9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your
ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
(10) For as the rain cometh down, and the
snow from heaven, and returneth not thither,
but watereth the earth, and maketh it
bring forth and bud,
that it may give seed to the sower,
and bread to the eater:
(11) So shall my word be that goeth
forth out of my mouth:
it shall not return unto me void,
but it shall accomplish that which I
please,
and it shall prosper in the
thing whereto I sent
it.
Jer 23:25-34
(KJV)
I have heard what the prophets
said, that prophesy lies in my name,
saying, I have dreamed, I have
dreamed.
(26) How long shall this be
in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies?
yea, they are prophets of
the deceit of their own heart;
(27) Which think to cause my
people to forget my name by their dreams
which they tell every man to
his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for
Baal.
(28) The prophet that hath a
dream, let him tell a dream;
and he that hath my word, let him
speak my word faithfully.
What is the chaff to
the wheat? saith the LORD.
(29) Is not my word like as
a fire? saith the LORD;
and like a hammer that
breaketh the rock in pieces?
(30) Therefore, behold, I
am against the prophets, saith the LORD,
that steal my words every
one from his neighbour.
(31) Behold, I am
against the prophets, saith the LORD,
that use their tongues, and say,
He saith.
(32) Behold, I am
against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD,
and do tell them, and cause my
people to err by their lies, and by their lightness;
yet I sent them not, nor commanded
them:
therefore they shall not
profit this people at all, saith the LORD.
(33) And when this people,
or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying,
What is the burden of
the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them,
What burden? I will even forsake
you, saith the LORD.
(34) And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the
people,
that shall say, The burden of the LORD,
I will
even punish that man and his house.
2Co 10:3-6
(KJV)
For though we walk in the
flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(4) (For the weapons of our warfare
are not carnal,
but mighty through God to the pulling
down of strong holds;)
(5) Casting down imaginations, and every
high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought
to the obedience of Christ;
(6) And having in a readiness to
revenge all disobedience,
when your obedience is
fulfilled.
2 Tim 3:14-17
(KJV)
But continue thou in the
things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of,
knowing of whom thou hast learned
them;
{15} And that from a
child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise
unto salvation
through faith which is in
Christ Jesus.
{16} All scripture is
given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in
righteousness:
{17} That the man of God
may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good
works.
2 Tim 4:1-5
(KJV)
I charge thee
therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus
Christ,
who shall judge the quick
and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
{2} Preach the word; be
instant in season, out of season;
reprove, rebuke, exhort with
all longsuffering and doctrine.
{3} For the time will come
when they will not endure sound doctrine;
but after their own lusts
shall they heap to themselves teachers,
having itching ears;
{4} And they shall turn
away their ears from the truth,
and shall be turned unto
fables.
{5} But watch thou in all
things,
endure afflictions, do the work of
an evangelist,
make full proof of thy
ministry.
Mark 12:24
(KJV)
And Jesus answering said unto them,
Do ye not therefore err,
because ye know not the
scriptures,
neither the power of
God?
Rom 15:4-6
(KJV)
For whatsoever things were written aforetime
were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures
might have hope.
{5} Now the God of patience and consolation
grant you
to be likeminded one toward another according to
Christ Jesus:
{6} That ye may with one mind and one
mouth glorify God,
even the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
Mat 5:17-19
(KJV)
Think not that I am come to
destroy the law, or the prophets:
I am not come to destroy,
but to fulfil.
{18} For verily I say unto
you, Till heaven and earth pass,
one jot or one tittle shall in no
wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
{19} Whosoever
therefore shall break one of these least commandments,
and shall teach men so,
he shall be called the least in
the kingdom of heaven:
but whosoever shall do and teach
them,
the same shall be called great in
the kingdom of heaven.
